Professor Gareth Owen

Professor Gareth Owen is a Professor of Psychological Medicine, Ethics and Law at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College London.

His research has focused on decision-making capacity and related areas, spanning theoretical to practical issues as well as policy impact. He led the Wellcome Trust Mental Health and Justice Project and is now working within the Complex Life and Death Decisions Group at KCL.

As a consultant psychiatrist Gareth works in liaison psychiatry at King’s College Hospital. He is also a founding member and trustee of the Maudsley Philosophy Group Charity.
