Taeona Morgan

Taeona is a doctoral researcher with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London. She holds a joint studentship with the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre and the Department of Forensic and Neurodevelopmental Sciences. Her work largely investigates how changes in early life, both in utero and during infancy, can affect later cognitive neurodevelopment. She is particularly interested in how the Covid-19 pandemic and related viral infections may have impacted growing children.

She also works towards increasing the feasibility of child participation in research. Including receiving funding to develop an app to help children prepare for their upcoming MRI scans, with plans to make this publicly available for NHS use.

Taeona hosts focus groups to understand public perspectives of child development and the pandemic. In turn she shapes her work to meet the priorities of those she is studying. She believes scientific outreach and co-production is the future of clinical research. She is dedicated to making science accessible and publicly available, including sharing her work through Inspire The Mind!
