About
My name is Michael Butler and I received my doctoral degree in neuroscience from Florida State University. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at The Ohio State University. My research focuses on how nutrition impacts the communication between the immune system and the nervous system, and what this means for brain function. More specifically, I look at how different diets impact brain inflammation, learning, and memory in multiple biological models, including aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Through my research, I want to be an effective science communicator and make advanced and nuanced scientific concepts more accessible to non-scientists. Through this outreach, it is my hope to improve science literacy and build trust in the scientific community. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and snowboarding, as well as spending time with my friends and family.
