About
Eleanor is a doctoral researcher in Philosophy at the University of York, UK, working primarily on the philosophy of medicine and psychiatry. Eleanor’s doctoral thesis addresses philosophical issues around Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME), especially the effect that mental illness stigma has on both scientific research and the lives of patients.
Alongside her work on CFS/ME, Eleanor works on an AHRC-funded project entitled ‘Grief: A Study of Human Emotional Experience’. With her background in philosophical phenomenology, Eleanor has been exploring the role that grief plays in experiences of chronic illness.
