Valeria Mondelli

Valeria is a Clinical Reader in Psychoneuroimmunology at King's College London (IoPPN) and Liaison Consultant Psychiatrist at King's College Hospital.

Her research interest focuses on the interplay between physical and mental health and on the role of biological systems involved in the stress response in the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders.

She is currently leading two new projects, including a clinical trial, to investigate the involvement of inflammation in the pathogenesis and treatment response in depression and a global mental health consortium to identify predictors of depression in adolescence (Identifying Depression Early in Adolescence IDEA).

She is currently President of the Psychiatry Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and Associate Editor for Brain Behaviour Immunity. She is also Research Champion in mental and physical interface at the NIHR South London and Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre.
