About
I am a Canadian Psychiatrist-Scientist currently conducting a postdoctoral fellowship in the SPI Lab.
With my research, I seek to understand how changes in hormone levels and the immune system in depressed and anxious patients affect the function of brain cells. I used data collected from depressed patients as well as from brain cells grown in culture in the lab to increase our knowledge of how stress in mental illness changes brain cell function. Also, I am investigating how current antidepressant medications affect brain cell function.
I hope to use the results of my studies to both optimise the use of current antidepressant medications and to contribute to the discovery and development of new antidepressant treatments.
