About
Dr Sethna is a Lecturer in Psychiatry and Mental Health (Education) at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London. Her research career has involved an understanding of biopsychosocial and environmental processes linking perinatal mental health to children’s development. She has a particular interest in the role of fathers (their influence on maternal health and child outcomes) and in the early caregiving environment.
She values openness to learning and ideas from others and is a strong believer that societal progress is based on cooperation, collaboration and in the trade of knowledge and skills. In the words of Friedrich Hayek, ‘civilisation rests on the fact that we benefit from knowledge that we do not possess’.
