About
Emma Marns is a freelance journalist, novelist and PhD candidate from Essex. After a spell in sport, she now writes about arts, grief, breastfeeding troubles and motherhood mental health for a range of online and print publications. Her first novel, The Walk, was published in 2023 and concerns the Irish mother-and-baby home scandal. Her current area of research is the local press in Essex in the era of the suffragettes, with her PhD novel (working title: The Station House) due for completion by 2028. She lives in Hullbridge with her sim-racing husband Bradley and their Peter-Rabbit-obsessed three-year-old daughter, and regularly over-waters her plants.
