About

Dinesh Bhugra CBE is an Emeritus Professor of Mental Health and Cultural Diversity at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London and Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist as the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation trust.


Throughout his extremely successful career, he has held a number of impressive positions including, but not short of, his past positions as Chair of the Mental Health Foundation, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the first-ever UK-based President of the World Psychiatric Association, has been President of the British Medical Association and Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chair of the Travistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust.


In addition to these impressive accreditations, Dinesh is also a well-known commentator on social and public health psychiatry in the media and frequently contributes to journalism: including writing in The Times, The Guardian, Huffington Post and Financial Times, amongst others. His writing does not stop here as he has also written and edited a huge number of books, chapters and papers during his career.
